Its arguably the most prestigious and sought after accomplishment in Canadian curling – to represent your country at the Olympics. From Dec. 1-8, the best rinks in the nation will get the chance to do so as the Roar of the Rings Canadian Curling Trials take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Which womens rink do you think has what it takes to represent Canada at the Olympic Games in February? It looks as though there is a changing of the guard taking place. The 2010 Olympic silver medalist, Cheryl Bernard, failed to qualify for the Trials as the eight-rink field is filled with young squads. Ottawas Rachel Homan looks to be the odds on favourite to head to Sochi in February. The 24-year-old won the Scotties Tournament of Hearts last year and has already won a Grand Slam event this year. Jennifer Jones will have the hometown crowd behind her as the Winnipeg native will try to qualify for the Olympics for the first time in her career. The 39-year-old is a four-time Scotties champion and also has a world championship in her back pocket. Chelsea Carey is also from Winnipeg and will look to use the crowd to her advantage. Stefanie Lawton is the lone representative from Saskatchewan and will make her second straight appearance at the Trials. Heather Nedohins foursome from Edmonton won the Scotties back in 2012 and hopes to qualify for the Olympics. Her husband, Dave Nedohin, will also be at the Trials playing third for Kevin Martin. Sherry Middaugh from Coldwater, Ont. is hoping she makes it to Sochi with her husband as well. Wayne Middaugh plays third for Glenn Howard. Albertas Val Sweeting and Renée Sonnenberg grabbed the last two spots at the Pre-Trials in Kitchener and will be looking to surprise some people. Sweeting, 26, upset former world champion Kelly Scott of B.C. in the last qualifier while Sonnenberg, who was Denmarks coach at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, only lost once all week. So who do think has what it takes to win the Roar of the Rings and wear Canadas colours in February? As always, its Your! Call. Jim Leyland Jersey . Asdrubal Cabrera had four hits and three RBIs, Michael Brantley also homered and the Indians beat the injury-riddled Minnesota Twins 9-4 Thursday for their first three-game winning streak this season. Mickey Stanley Jersey . In fact, with a few improvements, this could very well be a decent team over the next few seasons. I will go into more detail when digging into the Canucks Off-Season Game Plan, which will be coming earlier this year since they are part of the non-playoff contingent, there are some reasons to think this is a favourable situation for President of Hockey Operations Trevor Linden and whomever he selects to be the new general manager. https://www.cheaptigers.com/1539z-tommy-bridges-jersey-tigers.html . LOUIS -- The St. Troy Stokes Jr. Jersey . Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia will have surgery on his left shoulder this week and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Bill Coughlin Jersey . The Bruins forward has been fined $5,000 by the National Hockey League for spearing Red Wings defenceman Danny DeKeyser in the groin.NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has punished CSKA Moscow, Cypriot club Apollon Limassol and Serbia Under-21s for racist behaviour by their fans with full or partial stadium closures. CSKA received the heavier punishment of playing its next European home game behind closed doors, after its supporters displayed racist and far-right symbols in the Czech Republic during a 2-1 loss to Viktoria Plzen on Dec. 10 in the Champions League. The club was also fined 50,000 euros ($68,000) after being warned previously for fan abuse during an October home game against Manchester City. Apollon Limassol received a partial home stadium closure at its next UEFA game after its fans were caught making monkey chants at Legia Warsaw player Dossa Junior dduring a 2-0 home loss in the Europa League on Dec.dddddddddddd. 12. The Football Association of Serbia was ordered to partially close its stadium at the next Serbia Under-21 home game after monkey sounds were heard during a 2-2 draw with Belgium in 2015 European U21 Championship qualifying on Nov. 15. Because Serbia had already had to play two home U21 games behind closed doors for racial abuse during a home game against England U21s in October 2012, UEFA ordered the Serbia FA at the next U21 home game to display a large banner reading "No to Racism" and make the captain stand in the middle of the ground and announce over the PA the opposition to racism by the Serbia FA, the U21 team and their fans.
